Reinforced lower link ball CAT 2-1 made of hardened 20MnCr5 steel
This CAT 2-1 lower link ball combines the category 2 ball size on the outside with a category 1 pin hole. It is therefore suitable when a CAT 1 pin size is to be used in a CAT 2 catch hook or corresponding receiver.
The decisive advantage lies in the material: 20MnCr5 is a load-bearing chromium-manganese steel that gains a significantly more resistant surface through hardening. Especially at the contact points between ball, pin and catch hook, this reduces wear that can quickly lead to pressure marks, play or an uneven fit with softer balls.
The hardened version is particularly useful when implements are changed frequently or the ball works under changing pulling directions. It retains its shape for longer, wears in less quickly and therefore ensures a clean fit for longer. The electrochemical coating complements the material advantage with additional surface protection.
